Causes: Sesamoids are tiny bones surrounded by tendons that run from the ball of the foot to the big toe. Sesamoiditis is a condition characterized by an inflammation of the bones and tendons in this area. People with bony feet are especially prone to sesamoiditis, because fat pads generally protect the bones.
